Some Project Life in My Kitchen...

My son Nathan is home sick today, he has a bit of a fever and is just feeling lousy :(.
We spent this morning on the couch cuddling and watching t.v (which I just love and really miss since he has started school) but this afternoon I wanted him to have a rest so I decided to start my project life scrapbook for 2015!!

One of my Christmas presents was the 5th and Frolic project life core kit!!! I have been wanting to start project life for a few years and this year I have!! It is really a cool way to scrapbook. For me it gets me out of my head and just allows me to do it...lol
I usually sit in front of my pictures and paper with Google images open to various scrapbook layout ideas and it takes me forever to get going and do a layout. With project life there is very little to decide so you can just get the pictures arranged and the memories recorded, which I just LOVE!!!

Today I sat at my kitchen table and got all of January done. I have not really embellished it so I will share more of my layouts from today at a later date but I am really pleased that I got as much done as I did :)

sorry for the glare...

I wanted to share this last picture because I am really loving this little bag! I use it to carry my crafting things from the basement to the kitchen and it can fit almost everything!! I also use it when I am going to crops and I have a lot of little things I don't want to put into my big scrapping tote. The thing I love the most is that it was less than $10 from Michael's!!

Some New Finds :)

Hello and Burr...lol. I was watching the news one night last week and I heard that we are once again in a polar vortex... :(. It has been so cold outside that my scarf is frosting up as I walk my boys to and from school just from the warmth of my breath!! I cannot wait for this cold air to leave and return to some more seasonal temperatures...lol

Today I was out and about, I had several stops to make and some of them were fun :)
I stopped at Michael's and picked up a paper pad that I was very excited to get. I had wanted this paper pad for a while and it had been out of stock forever... until today...lol.
I wasn't even going to go to Micheal's today, but as I was driving by I quickly turned into the parking lot and I am glad that I did! There was one Recollections comic book paper pad in stock so I quickly picked it up and went straight to the cash!!

I have a couple of scrapbook layout ideas already to go and some card ideas too!! I think that I will spend some time tomorrow getting some layouts done with my new papers :)

After Michael's I headed over to the mall (which is just up the road from Michael's) and went to two stores. My first stop in the mall was David's Tea to pick up some new Matcha tea. I got two different flavours to try:

I could not wait to try it out the moment I got home. I like it but to be honest it was just ok. It has a really strong taste but it has so many health benefits that it is worth it!!

My last last stop of the day was to pick up some new shampoo for my son Bobby from one of our favourite stores, Lush.
We were watching some of the YouTube videos about their new shampoo and Bobby really wanted to try it, so I told him I would pick one up for us. We had already chosen which one we wanted mainly based on the name...lol. I wanted something with a neutral smell that our whole family would like to use and he loved the name of it, so it was an easy choice.
I got the Honey I Washed My Hair shampoo bar:

 and the storage tin

It smells so good!!! I am really happy that it does not smell too sweet.  With having four guys in the house that will be using it I really wanted something subtle but nice, and I found it with this!!!  Actually, I was really impressed with all the shampoo bars, they all smelled really good and I can't wait to try them all.

Getting Ready for Valentine's!!!

Hello! I hope this post finds you well, I have been a little sluggish over the last couple of weeks but otherwise good :)

Over the last couple of days maybe even weeks I have been getting ready for Valentines day. I have been working on cards for our family and friends (which I am sad to say have not made it into the mail yet). Today I was busy making cards and a favor box for the girls group I co-lead at church.
Wednesday is our meeting night and tomorrow night's craft will be a sea of red and white!!!

The hearts are cut from  Plaint Schoolhouse Cricut's cartridge and the stamped Happy Valentine's Day is from a My Pink Stamper stamp set. The favor box is cut from the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More Cricut cartridge.  The white card stock is cut to make an A2 sized card once it's folded.

I included the last picture because I thought my youngest son photo bombing my picture was so cute!!!

A Personalized Stationery Gift Set

Hello and happy Friday :) It has been a very busy day here today, my boys have had a PA day today and we have a friend over all day.

Tonight we are visiting with a very good friend Becky, my sister Ruth, niece and nephew. Becky's birthday is January 1st and today is the first time I am seeing her since her birthday. I wanted to make something special for her so I decided to make her some personalized stationery.

This the note card that I made, it is a set of 6 cards with co-coordinating envelopes:

Here is a video that I made for my YouTube channel thecraftnut32 with a quick explanation of how I made this sweet stationery set:

I hope that you have had a great day and will have a great weekend too!!!

Getting Organized!!

Over the past couple of weeks I have been working on getting some messy/crowded parts of our home organized. Today I was putting some of that organizing energy into my craft room.

Today's focus was on getting my paper all organized and put away. Most of my coloured card stock is 8 1/2 by 11 Recollections paper. I have always brought it home, put it on the shelf in the bag it comes in and that's how it has stayed. I open the bag and just pull out the pieces that I am going to use.
I have tried to put the bags that are close in colour next to each other but it's hard to keep the colours together when the packs have a lot of different colour combinations in them.

I have seen a couple of videos on YouTube lately of 8 1/2 by 11 paper storage and it inspired me to do something similar.
Today I went to Staples to see what kind of magazine, paper storage bins they had. I was not that impressed but only because the bins that  I was looking only came in black...lol
I went to a few other stores and the selection there was minimal and expensive!! I did not want to order anything on line, I did not want to pay the shipping and I really really wanted to complete this project today!
I wound up going back to Staples and got some magazine bins to find out that they were on sale :). I got 8 bins in all and was able to organize all my 81/2 by 11 organized and grouped into colour families.

Here is how it all turned out:

and here are all of the bags and labels...

I wish I had of taken a picture of the before but I was to excited to get started...lol  I am really happy with how it turned out and I am really looking forward to crafting with all of my organized paper :)

Some Nice Bright Flowers

Today was a very productive day for me!!! I was able to get almost everything done on my "to do" list and still have time to make a video for my YouTube channel.
For some reason I cannot get the video to load for this post but if you would like to watch the video here is a link to my YouTube Channel: thecraftnut32

A couple of day ago I made a card for a friends birthday. When I was done making it I didn't like it, I had pictured it quite differently than how it actually turned out but when I came back the next day to look at it I loved it.
Originally I wanted to put a Happy Birthday sentiment on the front of the card but when I was going through my stamps I could not find anything thing that would go. Now that it is done I love the fact that it does not have a sentiment. I can grab it on any occasion and fill it out on the inside for what I am going to use it for!!

Here are the supplies I used to create this card:

I used a rubber stamp that I bought at Michael's for the flowers and stamped it with black Simon Says Stamp Ink. I used My Inktense pencils and some Distress markers for the flowers and the background. I embossed and cut it with a Spellbinder die and then popped it up on a 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 card. The card base was stamped with a MFT wood-grain background stamp with some dark chocolate Simon Says Ink. I used a white gel pen to add some dash lines around  the edge to finish it off.
I love how bright this card is and I am having a lot of fun with my new background stamp :)

In My Cozy Craft Room

Today was such a cold day outside, so I spent this morning nice and cozy in my craft room!!
My craft room is not really a room but a corner in our basement. It's nice not having a room because I can still see what our boys are up to when they are home and I feel like crafting and also because we have a fire place down there too! So this morning I turned on some music, started the fireplace (and some laundry...lol) and had a nice morning crafting :)

Today was another productive day of crafting...lol Yesterday I finished my cousins Christmas mini album and today I decorated the cover. It is nothing elaborate but I am really happy with how it turned out. It is something that I had mapped out in my head forever, so now that it is done and looks good I feel pleased. It looks as good in person as it did in my head...lol

Here is it is :

I used my Silhouette and some glitter paper from Michael's to cut out the 2014 and a Papertrey Ink die for the little snowflakes. In the center of the snowflake I added some little bling to add some extra sparkle :)

Once I was done with the Christmas mini I started on some of my Valentine's for this year. I used the Papertrey Ink Shakers dies to create and fill these really cute shaker hearts...

I am going to make some cards with these shakers hopefully sometime this week, so stay tuned for that...lol
