A Lovely Dinner

Well the first week of school is now over and everything is back into full swing.  My boys have done such a great job of starting the new year and I cannot believe that they are now in grades 6, 3 and sk. they are all just getting so big!!!

Last night I wanted to have a nice Sunday dinner with my guys, so I decided to make a batch of cabbage roll soup. It turned out really delicious and we have enough left overs for at least two more dinners!!!

 

Matthew loves to pile as much food as he can onto his crusty bread...lol

And Nathan decided to talk to us like this, we couldn't help but laugh which of course kept it going  all through dinner!!

While I was cooking dinner I stumbled upon a little surprize that my husband had forgotten to give me on my birthday. It was back in August and it was a wonderful day but I had received all my presents the day before, so he had bought a little something extra so I would have something to open on the day of. Well that was his intention...lol

 

 

 

A fun little gadget and beautiful card!! I love this little flash light. It will be perfect for my craft room or some extra light while reading late at night. The card is so pretty, it has been sitting on my counter and I have loved watching the sparkly dress all day :)

A Bright Hello

I ordered the Watts Up stamp set from Simon Says Stamps back in April when it came out and was so excited to use it. 
When it finally arrived I was excited to dive right in and play but I decided to put it out of the way while I finished up some projects that I was working on and then I never got around to using it :(


A couple of weeks ago I pulled it out and had a lot of fun... I decided to pull out my distress inks and my paint brush to use with this stamp and love how it turned out!!

I used my distress inks as paints and the only problem that I ran into was on my first try where my yellow and blue meet it turned to green :( (not in my night/ light vision...lol)
So on my second try I had a little less water on my watercolour paper and it turned out great!!!

Fun Things :)

I haven't has a lot of time over last little while to just sit and work on my nails but today I had that opportunity to do so, so I went all out...lol
I started off with a nice light blue, Sally-Hansen's Blue-Away and then sponged on a darker blue (Blue Me Away) on the tips for a gradient look.
I pulled out my stamping nail art kit from Konad and my Konad stamping plate m64 and stamped with some Essie (No Place like Chrome) over my gradient blue polish.







I really loved how they turned and I finally got to use my new bottle of Essie :)

On a completely different note but just as fun, my pack of warm greys Spectrum Noir markers arrived... At last...lol I ordered them back in June and for some reason they took a really long time to come in.
I have been upgrading my markers to the second generation markers when enough of the markers from one colour family runs out. Instead of buying the ink refills I have been buying the packs of second generation markers instead.

A Pretty Border Card

Now that it's summer my three boys are home and I am doing child care for two other boys - my house is a pretty busy place. I love summer but it seems to be just flying by...
I have not had as much time at my craft table as I would like but I've had a chance to play today!!

Watching this weeks "Make it Monday" challenge I knew exactly what I wanted to do!!
I pulled out one of my favourite stamp set, Green Meadows from Papertrey Ink, some water colour paper and distress inks and had a lot of fun creating this card!!

I was all set to give my mother the Shaker and Sprinkles card that I made but now I am stumped whether she should get this one instead...lol

Yay for Shakers and Sprinkles!!!

My Papertrey Ink Shakers and Sprinkles kit finally arrived last Monday!!!! I have been waiting for this kit for 3-1/2 months...(I kid you not!!) It was my mother's day gift from my hubby :)
Even with the wait I would order it again in a heartbeat. I LOVE it!!! It is so pretty and cool all at the same time...lol :)

And a couple of small stamp sets to help qualify for the shipping discount :)

My 1st finished card!!!

I have been thinking of what other word dies are available so I can keep on using my kit for other kinds of cards. I have found some really pretty "love", "thanks" and "hello" dies that I am thinking of ordering.
I have also found that you can buy some acetate paper (clear paper) at Staples from their copy desk for $1 each. The quality is not as good but I can buy it locally and it looks nice, you really have to look hard or know what to look for to notice a difference.


The only little hiccup I had making my shaker card was when I opened a brand new bottle of tinsel glitter and dropped it all over myself! I was covered... it was in my shirt, all over me and my chair and the carpet under my desk!! I am still finding glitter a week later...lol

It's Like Saying Goodbye to An Old Friend...

Well its a sad day in my crafting life...my very last package from Custom Crops has arrived :( 
I am going to miss Custom Crops with their cute web site and their excellent shipping rates to Canada. I have gotten a lot of my crafting supplies from them over the past four years and have spent countless hours browsing their website planning out future purchases...lol

Here it is, just in from the mail box:

It was not a very big order but I have been wanting a rainbow die for a while now so I was very happy to pick this one up... and who could go wrong with distress markers at a $1.70/ea (I think...lol).

Happy Canada Day

I just wanted to take a moment to wish all my fellow Canadians a Happy Canada Day!!! I hope that you have a wonderful day with ever plans you have in store for today. 

My husband has sprained his foot, so our plans will be altered for today so he can stay off his feet...lol

Just in time to celebrate Canada Day with us, our tiger lily has bloomed this morning :) To me when the tiger lily's are in bloom it means summer has arrived!! It seems that almost every where I have lived there have been tiger lily's somewhere close to me and I have always loved the bright burst of colour shinning through all the green that surrounds them.
